New GEFRA Working Paper Björn Alecke, Timo Mitze and Gerhard Untiedt analyse the impact of the German “Joint Task for the Improvement of Regional Economic Structures” (GRW) on labour productivity growth of 225 German labour market regions for the period 1994 to 2006. Federalism and Research and Innovation policy in Germany Germany supports research and innovation by various programmes which are sponsored by the European Union, the federation and the federal states or municipalities. The task of the study is to grasp the complex structures of funding, to analyse the objectives and the framework of research and innovation advancement, the content of single programmes as well as the behavior of the engaged actors. In behalf of the Expert Commission Research and Innovation (EFI) the RWI in cooperation with GEFRA aims on specific recommendations to reach higher efficiency in research and innovation policy. Investment programme "Financing Child Care 2008 - 2013" in North Rhine-Westphalia In 2008 the „KiBiz Directive“ has been implemented in North Rhine-Westphalia to assist constructional investments in child care. After more than two years of funding, the Ministry for Intergenerational Affairs, Family , Women and Integration of North Rhine-Westfalia takes interest on a first assessment of funding results and a comparative evaluation of implementation so far. Requests and options for the implementation of European Structural policy in the years 2014-2020 in the „new“ federal states including Berlin The study focuses on an assessment of the funding period 2000-2006 and on an estimation of the prospective effects of the period 2007-2013. Based on these results, the requests and options for the funding period 2014-2020 will be worked out. Ex post evaluation of cohesion policy programmes 2000-2006 financed by the European Regional Development Fund, work package 6c: Enterprise support - econometric and counterfactual approach The main objective of this study is to deliver empirical results on the effects of direct enterprise support on entrepreneurial target variables such as sales, employment, investment, or productivity.
